Saving City Women
EDF is helping former sex workers transition to safe employment through Skills training and Tailoring & Design education.

The participants are trained in the definition of tailoring, the process of creating a complete garment and how to use the sewing machine and its maintenance. The beneficiaries participated and completed the sewing, cutting and designing of the following-: Infant dress, Basic skirt, Straight dress & Half slips, Long & short pants, Casual shirts, Aprons, and a Ladies suit.
Tailoring
Sewing and tailoring are taught in a ” learn by doing” hands on training style to maximize the skill retention.
The program has been expanded to include interested women from the local communities and is part of our Women’s retraining and rehabilitation project.
Self-esteem is built as they see the products of their design work.

At graduation the participants have a need for their own sewing machines to allow them to begin their own businesses, so EDF is always trying to fulfill the need for sewing machines.
